Who do you want to be?
When you look at yourself in the mirror are you the person you think you are? Do you see the person you are or the one you want to be? Are you happy with the you as you are or is there something about yourself you would change?
Interesting questions and only you know the answer, if you are being honest with yourself.
I recently heard someone say, ‘we don’t find ourselves, we invent ourselves’ and this has really stayed with me.
When you see yourself, are you how you want to be, or more importantly have you invented yourself the way you intended? So, I invite you to truly look to yourself both inside and out and ask the question, who do I want to be?
Look at the good aspects of yourself and the not so good. Are you happy with them and if not, how are you going to change them? Do you really want to change them, because change is hard and requires continuous effort?
If the answer is, I’m happy, then go forward with a smile – job done! But if there are aspects of yourself you want to change then what are you going to do about it? How are you going to start and will you carry on when the job gets tough? It would lovely to wave a magic wand and change something permanently, but then that’s not real life.
As the saying goes ‘for something to change, something has to change’, but if you really want to change, then you have to accept changes to your life and actively work towards them. It’s not a one stop shop, it requires continual effort and long-term application. However, these changes are generally worth it and will stay with you for a long time.
You are worth the effort, because you are all you truly have! As life goes on the changes made will become part of you and you will become the best version of yourself.
